Happy Camp's only full service Motel and by far WHAT TO DO WHILE YOU'RE HERE There is a full service restaurant and a great pizza parlor within walking distance of the Forest Lodge Motel. Bring the entire family during some of the most unique community festivals around. The most fun you will have with Big Foot is during the Big Foot Jamboree on Labor Day every year. This is a reunion time for all who come back to Happy Camp so make your reservations early! The Sweet Little River Run Festival (always the first weekend in July) is one of the best motorcycle runs in Northern California, not to be missed. There are also many Native American events. Check the Happy Camp Chamber of Commerce for the most accurate and up to date information. Our area has something to offer you throughout the year. Different things at different times. Spring - Spring is just plain beautiful in the California mountains. Wild Flowers carpet the road sides. Lupines come first and fill the air with their sweet perfume, then come the Queen Ann's Lace, Bachelor Buttons, California poppies, small white and yellow daisies. Klamath River canyon is also the home to the Dogwood tree that blooms their large flowers in the spring. Wild lilac and azaleas are also native to the area. As well as miles of yellow mustard plants.
Summer - NO CROWDS!!!! That's the best part. Park anywhere, swim, because it's HOT, (Turquoise pools of cool mountain spring water, U. Falls, River beaches), hike, because it's private, raft because it is fun. Mountain bike, nature hikes, Bald eagle, Bears at the dump, watch out for Rattlesnakes. Gold panning is BIG in this area and continues to prove to be worth it. Fall - The full fall tree colors of orange and yellow. Depending on the year, you can enjoy the full autumn color for weeks. It is breathtaking. But the fall offers a variety of activities, especially for the avid hunter, outdoors man and of course, the fisherman! Winter - Primarily Fishing, but still the quiet, fresh air and quality of life is available for all wanting to escape the madness of civilization. Christmas Trees can be cut here by picking up a permit at any Forest Service location for only $10.00. Hike out into the wilderness and get yourself a fresh tree. You might even experience a little snow while you are out.
